Shrink Wrap vs Stretch Wrap
20 Jul 2012
Most people interchange the terms stretch wrap and shrink wrap although they are two very different products.
Shrink wrap film is made from polyolefin plastic. Shrink wrap is generally used to protect a single product, like the plastic on toys or CD's. Shrink wrap forms its tight seal through a heating process. Shrink wrap can also be used for bundling products together, such as bottles of soda.
Stretch wrap is made from polyethylene plastic and is generally used to hold boxes on a pallet for transport. Stretch wrap is pulled and stretched and around the pallet. Shrink wrap works like an elastic band that holds the load tight.
